Dear sirs,
I have been teaching motorcycle racing for 41 yrs.
I hear gyroscopice precession from new riders.
I teach that the gyro forces are present on a motorcycle but, are too small to have much effect on the ballance of the bike. Also there are TWO spinning wheels on the bike. My theory is the cancel each other.
Has any one done the actual math of a motorcycle's spinning wheels (2) and the amount of force actually developed to keep the bike vertical? (besides me, way back in collage, 35 yrs ago)
Can anyone confirm or disprove my theories?
wheel radius = 12" ea
wheel = 15lbs ea
traveling at 100 mph = 1404rpm
and at 40 mph = 561rpm
Bike weight = 450lbs
with CG 28 inches above the ground
