Question

Asked by: Donald Shea
Subject: Motorcycle gyroscope
Question: I want to mount a fixed position gyroscope on my motorcycle in an attempt to have the gyroscope balance the motorcycle when it is not moving and to also help balance it at slower speeds. I will reduce the speed of the gyroscope as the motorcycle speeds up and increase the speed of the gyro as the bike slows down. Will this work? Is this possible?

Fairly pointless unless you plan on riding at about 2 mph.
This could work if a continuous spin gyro was fitted inside a floating gimbal and only became positionaly fixed when bike was stationary.
If as you suggested. The rapid Increasing/decreasing of the gyro speed in rhythm with acceleration/decelaration of the bike with a heavy/fast enough gyro that could support the bikes position would be nearly impossible.
Unlikely to catch on as extra weight involved would probably be disadvantageous to overall performance. Would also only come into force when bike is practically stationary.
