Gyro drift is basically when a gyroscope goes off course on its own accord. A perfect
gyroscope would never have this problem. Gyro drift is either caused by poor design, poor precision or a fault that has occurred after production.

Gyro draft rates are critical for aircraft. If the drift rate is too high after a while the aircraft will go off course.

The drift rate is often measured in degrees per hour. For example a gyro may have a draft rate of 0.01 degrees drift per hour.
