What is a Displacement Gyro?
What is another name for it? Is it a Directional or Vertical Gyro?
What does it measure?

My understanding is that displacement gyro point in one direction on a single. As the object/aircraft changes its angle it as able to measure the displacement.
So directional and verticla gyros a also displacement gyros.
Rate gyroscopes are different they aren't fixed in any one direction. Instead the have springs connected that pull them back to a central point. Any change in direction is measured if the rate gyro is off centre for a short a short period (until the springs pull it back into the centre). Hence the rate of directional change is known.

I do have several good books about avionics but in non of them is the Displacement Gyro mentioned.
So Ilooked inthe Internet. Several dealers are offering and repair stations are offering repairs for Displacemen Gyros.
Here http://www.aerosystems.com.sg/services.htm they are mentioning Directional, Vertical,Rate and Displacement Gyros. So, what is it used for?
