Homemade Gyroscope? |

Hi, I am a Texas Rollergirl, all girl Rollerderby ( and a Physics major).. so I have gone through an abundance of high quality bearings . Ive been trying to figure out something cool to do with all of my old bearings.. and was considering building a gyroscope. Any ideas? |

| | Your used bearings are probably no longer good enough to use in a gyroscope. However there are a number of bearing recycling companies out there who will purchase your used bearings. These companies refurbish the bearings and then resell them to industries which don't require high precision bearings, like toy manufacturers for example.

| | If they are in good working order, consider using small car rotors for your gyroscopes. If you have access to any metal or even wood working tools I could give you some ideas on how to proceed.

| | How about a tesla turbine gyroscope? Use old hard drive, platters and all, and drive with tangential air stream onto disc edges. Much fun.
