Question

Asked by: Tom Spinner
Subject: intuitive explanation of precession
Question: is there any PLAUSIBLE "intuitive" explanation connecting spin direction and precession direction.
I instruct science for highschool. students still don't know th differentiate vectors)
I try to say that the gyro 'resists' an attempt to change the direction of spin axis. gravity applies a moment and the combination of the 2 somehow (cross product) results in a sideways motion.
can u produce a more convincing "explanation" that does not contradict the Euler equations?
Thanks a million
